What is BSc Nursing?

BSc Nursing is a 4-year long undergraduate degree course in India, focusing on preparing talented nursing and paramedical staff. It is offered by top colleges like CMC Vellore, AFMC Pune, JIPMER Puducherry and many other medical colleges in India.

The Syllabus of BSc Nursing focuses on teaching students the key skills of Nursing, Human Anatomy, Nutrition, Microbiology and Genetics. Along with this, the course curriculum also focuses on teaching its students the compassion, empathy and an overall loving attitude towards the patients.

In order to be eligible to pursue this course, students need to have completed their Class XII in Science stream with at least 50% marks. Biology as a subject is mandatory in order to qualify for this course. Some colleges might also ask for English as a subject in Class XII.

Note: There is another course named BSc Nursing (Post Basic), which is of 2 years duration. This is a different course and its motive is to enhance the skills of students having prior experience in Nursing. Generally, the pass outs of GNM and ANM courses pursue Post Basic BSc Nursing.
